P0715 — Input/turbine speed sensor circuit
| Meaning | The transmission control unit does not know how fast the gearbox input is turning. Without it, it cannot schedule shifts and drops into limp mode to protect itself. |
| Family | Powertrain (P) |
Typical symptoms
Very harsh shifts
Engine or transmission warning light on
Reverse not engaging
Common causes
Broken wiring or oil-contaminated connector
Worn-out fluid with metal debris on the sensor
Faulty transmission control unit
What to do
Frequently asked questions
What does code P0715 mean?
Input/turbine speed sensor circuit. The transmission control unit does not know how fast the gearbox input is turning. Without it, it cannot schedule shifts and drops into limp mode to protect itself.
Can I keep driving with code P0715 active?
With caution: limp mode possible, have it checked soon
Common causes — P0715
Faulty sensor Broken wiring or oil-contaminated connector Worn-out fluid with metal debris on the sensor Faulty transmission control unit
How do you fix code P0715?
Read turbine and output speed on the diagnostic tool during a road test: if the first stays at zero while the car moves, the sensor or its wiring is open. If the fluid comes out black with debris, the real problem is further upstream and the sensor is only the messenger.
