If you already have a programmer in the workshop, the file service gives you the modified file for the car on the lift: you read the ECU, upload the original file to mastertuningfile.com, choose the jobs from the price list and receive the file ready to write. It works with credits and the price list is public, so you know the cost before you start.
How it works, in five steps
- Read the ECU with your programmer (Flex, The Genius, New Genius or another) and keep the original file.
- Log in to mastertuningfile.com and upload the file with the vehicle data.
- Choose the jobs from the price list: Stage 1, 2 and 3, gearbox, options and services. The credit-based price list is on the Prices page.
- Receive the modified file and write it with your tool.
- Road test and parameter check: if something is off, you can go back to the original.
What the service includes
- Stage 1, 2 and 3 for cars, including hardware modifications, and calibrations for trucks, tractors and agricultural machines.
- DSG and automatic gearboxes: torque limiters, shift speed and clutch pressure.
- Flexfuel E85 conversion with fuelling adapted to ethanol.
- IMMO OFF and cloning of engine and gearbox ECUs when one is replaced.
- Return to original, from their archive or from your read.
- File check: send a file that has already been modified and they tell you what was changed before you write it.
- Crash airbag deletion and injector-knock patch on TDIs.
- Diagnostics and emissions systems: work on DPF, EGR, AdBlue/SCR, swirl flaps and lambda sensors. The detail is on the Services page.
When the file service makes sense
If you work on several makes and engines, writing maps yourself takes years of experience and bench testing. With the file service you start from work that has already been developed, concentrate on reading, writing and checking in the car, and have a reference when an ECU gives you trouble. You still need a read and write tool and a stabilised power supply during the write. To choose the tool you can start from the shop.
Responsibility and correct use
The file service is a professional tool: the workshop is responsible for how it uses it. Functions that act on emissions systems (DPF, EGR, AdBlue) are for competition, off-road or export vehicles and not for vehicles used on public roads. On road vehicles the right path is diagnosis and repair.
