What a stock file is for
Back to stock
The most common use: a remapped vehicle has to go back to the factory calibration, for a sale, a warranty claim or a workshop that wants a clean starting point. The stock file is written back and the car behaves exactly as it left the factory.
Recovery after a failed write
A write that stops halfway, a flat battery during programming or a corrupted file leave the ECU unable to start the engine. With the matching stock file the unit is restored instead of replaced.
Checking a modified file
Comparing a tuned file against the stock one shows which maps were changed and whether the checksums are consistent, before anything is written to the car.
How to download a file
The archive is browsable without an account. To download a stock or tuned file you need a free account on MasterTuning File, our file service for workshops: a stock file costs 30 credits, and a tuned file calibrated on your own read is the service described on the tuning files page.
Do you have your own customers?
If you work with other workshops, or with customers who send you their reads, you can have a file service portal with your own brand: a website and a panel where your customers upload their reads and you receive, work and deliver the files.
- A website with your brand, and your own domain if you want it
- A panel to receive, assign and deliver the files
- Tools you can connect: Dimsport (TFP/FPF), Alientech KESS3, Autotuner and Magic Motorsport Flex
How to read a line
Every make page lists one combination per line. The fields come in the same order, and the two numbers that matter when you compare a file are the hardware and software numbers: they must match what your tool reads from the car, not just the model.

Frequently asked questions
What is a stock ECU file?
It is the complete read of the control unit memory as it left the factory: the stock software, with its hardware and software numbers. It is the reference for putting a vehicle back to stock, for recovering a unit after a failed write and for comparing a modified file against the original.
How do I download a stock file from the archive?
The list is free to browse. To download you need a free account on MasterTuning File: search the control unit by make and model or by software number; a stock file costs 30 credits (one credit is one euro).
What do the numbers on each line mean?
In order: vehicle, engine and power, ECU family, ECU make and model, hardware number and software number. For some makes the part number and the software version follow. The two numbers that matter when matching a file are the hardware and software numbers.
Does the stock file fit every car of the same model?
No. The file must match exactly the hardware and software numbers of the control unit fitted: two cars of the same model and year can carry different versions. Before writing, compare the numbers your tool reads with the ones on the line.
I cannot find my control unit: what now?
Search by software number, which is more precise than the model, and check the other parts of the same make: makes with many lines are split over several pages. If it is really missing, write to us from your account: the archive grows with the reads that come in from workshops.
Can I use the archive to put a remapped car back to stock?
Yes, it is the most common use. You need a writing tool suited to the control unit and, on many recent units, checksum correction, which professional tools handle on their own. Back to stock is also a service of the platform, starting from your own read.
