WHAT IS THE MY GENIUS?

The My Genius is a portable stand-alone programmer by DimSport. It lets the customer remap their own vehicle without using a computer. It works by reading and writing the engine ECU software. Once the vehicle file has been downloaded to a computer, you can send it to us over the internet. We then modify it to the customer's requirements and, when it is ready, send back the modified file to be written to the vehicle with the MyGenius. All communication protocols over the OBD socket are kept up to date. Safety is its strong point. You can store up to 10 modified files for the same vehicle. The original ECU software can be restored at any time, so the vehicle warranty is not lost. Reading and writing take only a few minutes.  

I AM CHANGING CAR — CAN I REUSE THE MY GENIUS?

The My Genius is locked to a vehicle the moment the original file is read. The tool will not programme other vehicles until the original file has been written back. To use the MyGenius on another vehicle, simply write the original file. The MyGenius then unlocks and can be used straight away on another car.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I WRITE THE FILE TO A DIFFERENT VEHICLE?

With the My Genius it is impossible to write a file to another vehicle. It has a sophisticated safety system that will not allow programming of a different ECU. How remote remapping works

  1. The My Genius is delivered to your home
  2. You plug it into the OBD socket and read the ECU software: a few minutes, with no computer connected to the car
  3. You send us the file over the internet
  4. We send back the file developed for your engine, which you write with the same tool

The tool stores up to 10 files for the same vehicle and keeps the original software, which can be restored at any time.

Who it suits

Anyone without a centre nearby, or who would rather not move the car. If instead you want the job done and road-tested by a technician, look at Stage 1 remapping at the MasterTuning centres.

Frequently asked questions about My Genius single-use programmer

Can the My Genius be used on more than one car?

No: it locks to the first vehicle it is used on. It is a single-use programmer tied to that car, not a workshop tool.

Do I need a computer to remap with the My Genius?

Not to work on the car: reading and writing are done with the tool plugged into the OBD socket. The computer is only for sending us the file and receiving it back.

Can I go back to the original software?

Yes, at any time: the standard file stays stored in the tool, ready to write back before a service or before selling the car.

How long does it take after I send the file?

In normal operation the developed file comes back within a few hours, ready to write to the vehicle.

Do I have to be a technician to use it?

No, it is made for the end customer: the tool guides you through each step and the readings take a few minutes. You only have to follow the procedure shown.
